Did you know that my occupation allows me to travel and paint all over the world? Yes, I am blessed! So thankful for the this gift and the doors it is opening.
The door is opening wide for me to begin traveling around the country more and more. Small Destination and intimate wedding are happening all over and my paintings are popping up there too.
It's good to get out of New Orleans sometimes and see the world around us. It inspires me and helps me to realize there is more than just this place I call home. There are people all over. I have been painting live at events in Louisiana for over nine years and I am noticing a change in my artistic industry. Wedding paintings have become so popular in this area, that many people have seen it done at one time or another and seem to be not really impressed by the performance. So, to travel and go somewhere where the people have not seen such a marvelous idea and are so surprised is very refreshing for me as an artist. I love to see their expression as the canvas develops and takes them by surprise.
I go where love calls and sometimes that is in a place I have never known. Love has no boundaries and is everywhere. I am so thankful that after many years of perfecting my craft and creating a easy and quick painting setup, I can now go all over America and paint for new found friends.
Michigan would be a new adventure in so many ways.
First off, I have never been there....
In August New Orleans is super hot, so I was very thankful when the door opened for me to travel to Michigan and paint a wedding there. The place was unbelievable. I mean it was so good to see a different advantage point and outdoor wedding space. The mountains stood majestically behind the bride and groom and provide the perfect backdrop.
Secondly, my best friend could not come with me. But my mom did!
Third, I had to paint the bride upside down and make sure she looked pleasant.
What a great challenge, that I was so happy to try!
Kyla hired me to paint the first dance which was a Tango dance and I was so excited to try something else new.
I think it came out good...but I may be a little biased.
Fourth, when I travel I pull an all nighter....
Fifth I had to make one stop.... The Detroit Museum of Fine Art!
And boy am I glad I did!
